6 Celebrities Campaigning For Mental Health Awareness
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone recently launched You Are Not Alone, a campaign to extend the mental health awareness initiative of her Live Love Laugh Foundation.
Let's look more in depth at Padukone's campaign and five other celebrities who've campaigned for mental health awareness.
1. Deepika Padukone

Padukone's campaign aims at schools, making the classroom a comfortable space to learn more about depression and anxiety. Padukone starts with her alma mater, Sophia's High School in Bengaluru, and plans to cover over 500 schools in the year.
2. Stephen Fry

English comedian, actor and presenter Stephen Fry is also the President of Mind, a mental health charity offering information and advice to people with mental health problems. He's involved with the mental health charity Stand to Reason and has supported the Scottish Association for Mental Health's (SamH) Know Where to Go Campaign. Fry explores bipolar disorder in the documentary film The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive.
3. Ruby Wax

American Actress Ruby Wax is the author of the bestselling book and theatre show Sane New World: Taming the Mind. As a patron for the British Neuroscience Association, she's brought mental health issues to the forefront in Parliament. She's an ambassador for Mind and SANE, she's performed the stage show Losing It based on her own experiences with mental illnesses and she's a speaker on mental issues on many global platforms.
4. Joe Mantegna

American actor, producer and director Joe Mantegna works to raise awareness about autism. He was the face of the campaign ACT Today! For Military Families led by ACT Today, a non-profit organization that provides care and treatment to autistic children.
5. Lady Gaga

American singer Lady Gaga started the Born This Way foundation that focuses on peer support and preventive initiatives, including research on youth and mental health. The foundation is dedicated to wellness and teen empowerment.
6. Demi Lovato

Singer-songwriter Demi Lovato is the leader of Be Vocal: Speak Up For Mental Health, an initiative that encourages people to share their stories of mental illness. She oversees the Lovato Treatment Scholarship, a program that provides mental health care for people who can't afford it.
These are some of the many brave stars who have not only coped with their own mental illnesses but also actively helped others cope.
