It’s that time again, fashion lovers! Toronto Fashion Week has returned to David Pecaut Square to showcase its collections for Fall/Winter 2016/17.
The line-up of designers this year offers some familiar and new faces. Check out some of my favourites from days 1 and 2.
Emerging designer Neya Couture showcased her designs for the first time at the tents — and it was an impressive showing. The designer describes her designs as "exquisite embellishments on a unique blend of fabrics and cuts.” The capsule collection looked glorious on the runway on a diverse selection of models. Favourites: a pastel, thigh-baring gown with gold embroidered accents, a dramatic wine-coloured, floor-length cap, and an embellished tank paired with a sapphire-blue, mid-length skirt.

Toronto-based designer and creative director Nikki Wirthensohn Yassemi for Narces once again showed why she's a force in evening wear design. The collection was breathtaking and grand. Yassemi’s show-stopping pieces were her floor-length gowns. The colours came in a range that oozed romance. Favourites: an unforgettable, fiery red, high-neck and full-body lace gown, an olive and black sheer and floral gown, and an electric blue body-con lace dress.

To say I was excited to see Montreal designers Jose Manuel St-Jacques and Simon Belanger for UNTTLD showcase their collection would be an understatement! From the moment the house lights dimmed and the moody classical music played, showgoers couldn't peel their eyes away from the runway. A Kimono-style coat, a jumpsuit and a wrap top reflected some Asian influences. But there was also glamour with low-cut pieces and beaded ensembles. Favourites: a low-cut gold lamé dress, a beaded halter and a beaded gown.
