Harnaam Kaur, the bearded model who made headlines with her lovely bridal photoshoot last year, walked the runway as the opener for celebrity jewelry designer Mariana Harutunian's show at Royal Fashion Day in London.
Kaur is one of the most outspoken body-positive activists on social media, and she regularly speaks out about her polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which causes hormonal imbalances. After being bullied through school and dealing with depression, Kaur embraced her beard and went on the campaign trail to raise awareness about bullying and body positivity.

Kaur absolutely killed it on the runway, dressed in her traditional turban, blue dress and boots, with Harutunian's gold chains on display. She spoke about her experience on Instagram and how empowering it was.
Kaur's inspiring message on Instagram: “I grew up watching America’s Next Top Model, and I admired Tyra Banks whole heartedly. I always wanted to be like the pretty models, so I remember copying the way they posed and walked. I grew up being told I was too fat, ugly, and disgusting to even model. I was told I’d never walk the runway. I used to look at models and tell myself that i will never ever be able to do what they are doing. I am not pretty enough or beautiful enough and I don’t have the ‘right’ body type. I was laughed at when I said I wanted to model."

"Joke’s on my bullies.I was lucky enough to walk for @mariannaharutunian as the first bearded lady to walk for a celebrity jewellery designer. I was humbled to be the first model to walk and open the show for #royalfashionday with the portrait of the legendary #davidbowie looking down on me! Every path is my runway! Walk with your head up high and ooze confidence always! Xx (My life’s quote)”

Kaur's modelling gigs have grown since last year, and she's been featured in Rock N Roll Bride in a traditional wedding lehenga. She joined Tess Holliday's viral campaign #effyourbeautystandards as the UK representative.
