With such political turmoil raging in India, the President of Formula One Management, Bernie Ecclestone, had begun hinting to the cancellation of the Grand Prix of India during the Hungarian GP.
It was only a matter of time before the official announcement of the cancellation of the 2014 races. Known internationally, the Grand Prix jet sets from city to city throughout the year, hosting races in some of the world's largest cities.
The GP of India is still fairly young however the race will return in 2015. Vicky Chandhok, head of the Federation of Motor Sport Council of India, said the Indian event was being dropped because of an imminent reshuffle of Formula One's calendar for next year.
But Chandhok said India was targeting a 2015 return, and the Indian event, which started in 2011, was not under any threat of being abandoned for ever.
"The race in 2014 is definitely ruled out and 2015 is what they are looking at," Chandhok told the Press Trust of India in the city of Chennai.
Chandhok said F1 management wanted the Indian race to be held in March in the 2015 calendar instead of October, but it was impractical to have the race in October 2014 and then again five months later.

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone also confirmed the change while speaking to the Times of India in London.
"The circuit in India is fantastic," Ecclestone was quoted as saying by the paper.
"We are really disappointed that we can't have the Grand Prix in India in 2014."
"But we have now agreed to return to India in March 2015."
Race organiser Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) said it would have preferred an October date, but was willing to host the race in March if needed.
"The October-November period suits us better both weather-wise as well as it being the festive season in India," JPSI chief Sameer Gaur said in a statement.
"But if Formula One management wants us to hold our race in March, 2015, we don't have any problem with that."
The 2014 calendar is due to be announced in September. Three new venues – in Austria, Russia and New Jersey in the United States – have been earmarked for races in the future.
One of the youngest races, the Indian GP is quickly picking up interest drawing international attention. After over a decade of planning GP of India is one of the most quickly growing races and it has made its mark only after 2 races, leaving onlookers wanting more.
One of the newest sports trends India it is quickly picking up fanfare and cities have been bidding to host the race track before it was settled in Greater Noida near New Delhi, at the Buddha International Circuit. The circuit hosts over 5 kilometres of track with 16 bends bringing the full race to over 300 km.
Drivers from around the world flew into the country to compete in the 2011 and 2012 competitions and will return for the games in 2015. The event infuses over $150 million dollars back into the Indian economy and is welcomed to be back soon.
The interesting thing here is, the Indian GP contract is valid till 2015. Which means, if the 2014 event is cancelled, then the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) could further pursue the Indian GP authorities to hold the 2015 race in April instead of October, so that India becomes a part of the initial fly-away races taking place in Asia. Also, if the 2014 race does not take place, it won't entirely be cancelled; instead, the FIA might just swap 2014 with a slot in the 2016 F1 calendar.
The Indian Grand Prix this year will be held on October 27.
