Master of None proves to be a satirical comedy, talking about societal taboos which are best delivered on a cold dish of humour.
Aziz Ansari’s Netflix series, Master of None was released earlier this month and has become this year’s most talked-about and well reviewed shows. More than just a comedy, this show is thought provoking and insightful, where Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang find a comedic twist to challenge stereotypes and pretty much talk about what everyone else is thinking.
1.Lack of Indians in Hollywood

2.Interracial Dating

“Look it’s different okay…if you’re a white person and you’re dating somebody, you just call your parents and tell them hey, I’m dating this person and they’re like oh great, let me invite em over and feed em, like chicken and dumplings!” That’s Dev’s (Aziz Ansari) response to Rachel when she asks Dev how come his parents don’t know they’re dating or living together when it’s been nearly a year!

Despite being 2015, sexism is still prevalent in our daily lives. In the episode, “Ladies And Gentleman”, the show touches upon the difference between a woman walking home from a bar, versus a man and even the creepos women have to deal with on Instagram. At a commercial wrap party, the director, Brad, comes over to talk to Dev and his friends and introduces him to all the guys sitting around at the table, but not the women.
5.How 1st Generation Kids Take Their Parents for Granted

Alas, most of us are guilty of it. As first generation Canadians, our parents immigrated here from another country, with a couple of dollars, no job and long distance calls were so expensive so they could only talk to their family once a month. Because of their struggle, we are better off, yet when they ask us to help us with sending an email, we can never find the time. In the episode, “Parents”, the show demonstrates just that…beware, you may feel a tad guilty after this episode, but it’s spot on!
