A popular Punjabi singer known for many chart-topping hits has been found dead in his apartment in Mumbai, India.
Punjabi singer Labh Janjua has passed on, leaving the industry shocked and saddened by his sudden death. Janjua shot to fame with his song "Mundeyan ton bach ke rahin," which was produced by Punjabi MC. His other hits include "Dance Pe Chance" from Rab Ne Banaa Di Jodi, "Soni De Nakhre" from Partner and his most recent hit, "London Thumakda" from Queen.
Janjua was found dead at his residence on Thursday morning. He was 57 years old. Police are currently investigating the reasons for his death, which are mysterious and unknown at this time.
Janjua had returned from a world tour only three days ago, said Jugnu, who resides in the A wing of the residential building. Janjua lived in the B wing.
Janjua's body was discovered by his friend and taken to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem immediately by police. "He was not feeling well so I took him to the hospital last night where he was diagnosed with acidity. In the morning I got a call from his wife, who stays in Punjab, saying he was not answering his phone. When nobody answered the door, we called the police and discovered he was dead," his friend told the press.
"I received a message from the residents informing me about something wrong with Labh. I rushed to his flat along with the building chairman and called the police. In presence of the cops, we called locksmith who made duplicate keys to open the flat and found him unconscious in the rental flat," Janjua's friend Jugnu told the Times of India.
"He was found unconscious on his bed. We do not suspect any foul play. However, the post-mortem report will give a clear picture. Probe is on to find out whether there is anything wrong," said Bangur Nagar Police senior inspector Santosh Bhandare.
There was an outpouring of emotion from the Bollywood film fraternity as they expressed their sadness for the loss of a talent so great.
RIP Labh Janjua. Can't believe i have to write this. Can't process the news. Rest in peace my friend. My Prayers are with his loved ones
