World MasterCard Fashion Week Highlights: Montreal Designers UNTTLD Win Big At The Tents

As World MasterCard Fashion Week comes to a close, our coverage ends with two designer competitions presented earlier last week.

Disney Consumer Products in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Start-Up hosted the highly anticipated Star Wars design competition. Stormtroopers were onsite to guard and pose with fashion lovers as the studio transformed to provide an intergalactic experience. The six finalists displayed their Star Wars–inspired garments in hopes of grabbing the $15,000 CDN prize. Montreal designers Jose Manuel St. Jacques and Simon Belanger of UTTLD won for their beautiful gold-cluster chained Princess Leia draped garment.

Winners Jose Manuel Saint Jacques and Simon Belanger for UTTLD
It was the second time the design duo won. They were awarded the highly coveted title at this year’s 2015 Mercedes Benz Start-Up Designer Award (MBSU), which entailed a $30.000 CDN bursary, editorial coverage in FASHION Magazine and a mentorship.
