Sometimes all a good outfit needs is a tweak or two, whether you’re trying to amp up your style or just add some key staple pieces.
Everyone needs a little direction sometimes as to what we can do to look and dress differently — in a good way. A change of season means sprucing up your existing wardrobe to look good and feel good for the fall season.
You might even just need these five style tips to get by.
1. Rock a Military Jacket

This is the season when you're probably reaching back into your wardrobe to pull out some older stuff. Outerwear is easy to incorporate, and you can usually work the rest of your outfit around a military-inspired bomber jacket or field jacket. This season, opt for more of a coat style to be more on trend. Military green is always a great colour to go for, but don't be afraid to mix it up. A great cable-knit sweater with some slim fit jeans will take you from zero to hero!
2. Invest in a Nice Sweater

Now that you've got the coat, you need the sweater. This will be a key fall piece for you to have and hopefully wear the crap out of! Turtleneck and rollneck sweaters are making a comeback as well. While it's tough for some guys to pull one off on its own, they can work great as a layering piece. The key to a nice turtleneck is what it's made out of as well. Opt for a thinner material to layer under a vest and a jacket. You can rock a look like this at the office and go from day to night as well.
3. The "Athleisure" Look (for the More Casual Guy)

If you're the kind of guy who takes comfort over style, then this one's for you. Merge both with the "athleisure" trend that has taken off over the last few years. It's really just about finding tailored sportswear that has a streetwear kind of vibe. Button-up shirts, tailored jogger pants and bomber jackets will be your best friends in perfecting this kind of look. Monochromatic styling is also key, specifically a black, grey, and white colour palette. Rocking jogger pants in a darker colour is a great to maintain a "dressier" look without sacrificing comfort. This is a way to still be comfortable with a much more modern vibe. Don't forget a nice sleek pair of sneakers!
4.Playing with Texture

Another key to layering is playing with textures. We're seeing the return of heavier fabrics like tweed and herringbone, and a lot more texture in pants as well, so don't be afraid to mix it up. There's really no limit to what you can play with. From denim to leather, it's all fair game! "Texture" also happens to be one of the most misunderstood words in men's clothing. Keep in mind that it's a subtle way to make a big impact in your look. It's also the first thing we notice as human beings!
5. Messing with Proportion

Not all clothing has to be form-fitting or tailored to a T. It can involve letting a longer shirt poke out from under a hoodie or wearing a slimmer jacket with loose sweatpants. Messing with the proportions of what you’re wearing has a coolness factor. Mixing up the way things fit is a sure way to stand out and get noticed.
The number-one element of dressing up or down is being comfortable. You can still look cool and put-together without appearing like a walking trend report. The key thing to remember is to wear what you like and what stands out to you. Fall is here, and that means changing up at least some of your clothing. Wearing something outside of your comfort zone is also a sure way to be unique and try something new!
