The countdown is on for the biggest box office clash in Bollywood history. Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani, the two most anticipated movies of the year, are releasing today and are forcing fans to choose between them.
The films we have been waiting patiently for all year are both releasing in theatres today, leaving Bollywood fans around the world anxious and excited.
There is no official winner as of yet, but according to fans on Bollywood Life, 69 per cent have voted in favour of Dilwale and 31 per cent have voted for Bajirao Mastani.
"Bajirao Mastani as well as Dilwale are big films and both have got good advance bookings. It's unprecedented for both the films. We are expecting aggressive opening for both," said PVR Pictures CEO Kamal Gianchandani in a statement to Press Trust of India (PTI).
Celebrity tarot card reader and numerologist Shradha Salla suggests otherwise. Shradha predicts, "A very big opening for Dilwale and a strong financial standing." Whereas, Shradha predicts Bajirao Mastani will run longer, with higher collections.
Why you should watch Dilwale:
SRK is the "king" of Bollywood and never disappoints, but also the choice of cast plans to re-create memories for movie-watchers. True fans of Bollywood will still remember the romance they felt between SRK and Kajol in the famous 20-year-old classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and who can forget how much they cried during My Name is Khan while watching the chemistry between the two stars? Fans have long waited for the co-stars to hit the big screen together again and now is their comeback.
Rohit Shetty is the director of this film and we have high expections after his succesful 2013 hit Chennai Express with Shah Rukh Khan. He hopes to bring back the magical success into Dilwale's release.
Why you should watch Bajirao Mastani:
SRK and Kajol may have chemistry on-screen, but Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have firey chemistry even off-screen, with rumours that they may be getting engaged in the near future.
Bajirao Mastani definitely steps out of the typical Bollywood theme, giving viewers a unique and royal film experience, depicting the real-life historical warrior love story of India's imperial era.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is the director of this film, never fails to provide breathtaking cinematography. His cinematic pieces are not just movies, but works of art. He first brought Ranveer and Deepika on-screen together in the 2013 super-hit romance film Ram-leela and hopes to reproduce that same on-screen attraction in Bajirao Mastani.
The competition between the films is certainly keeping us on the edge of our seats. Whichever movie you choose will definitely be entertaining, as both appear to be promising box-office hits. Let the battle begin!
