The Amazing Race Canada Season 2 teams have been announced, including two South Asian duos.
One pair is brother and sister Jinder and Sukhi Atwal; the other is best friends Shahla Kara and Nabeela Barday. Here's the scoop on the two teams.
Jinder and Sukhi Atwal
Sukhi Atwal, 32, and Jinder Atwal, 26
Jinder and his sister Sukhi are from Terrance, B.C., and have ambitions to conquer the world. Together, they’ve worked on entrepreneurial pursuits at home, and traveled abroad, including to South Asia.
Sukhi, the demanding older sister, and Jinder, the brains of the operation, dream big and are always up for a new challenge. In order for this team to win the race, they both agree that they need to remain relaxed.
According to Jinder, "Moving way too fast… or doing something without slowing things down and actually thinking about first will be our biggest challenge."
Sukhi says, "We need to comprehend the clues instead of running around like crazy people."
What motivates this sibling duo is their father’s story of the life he wanted to build to provide opportunities for his children. His immigration from India to B.C with no money and no English vocabulary inspires his kids and their belief that they can achieve anything – including winning The Amazing Race Canada.
Their team motto is "We will do whatever it takes! We are here to win! We got this!"
Shahla Kara and Nabeela Barday

Shahla Kara, 29, and Nabeela Barday, 29
Shahla and Nabeela are best friends from Markham, Ont. Shahla is a creative, confident and light-hearted occupational therapist. Nabeela is confident, resourceful and a good navigator. She works in management consulting. Their friendship goes back more than 20 years.
They both grew up in traditional Muslim-Canadian households and they're both constantly trying to find a balance between their religious beliefs and staying true to themselves. They aim to inspire others within their community and demonstrate how to be religiously faithful while still blossoming into the people they aspire to be.
They agree that they may experience some setbacks due to their beliefs. "We might have to take a penalty for anything prohibited in our religion, such as anything with alcohol or eating any meats or foods that are not halal."
Nabeela says, "We're trying to show you can be Muslim, you can be Canadian, you can be outgoing, female, single and 30. All of these things can be in harmony."
If the friends won, they would both love to give some of their winnings to their parents in order to make them feel safe and secure going into retirement.
Their team motto is: "Brownies for the win!"
