Latest trailer of the offbeat Bollywood flick: Finding Fanny.
Five Goans set off on a road trip in search of an old postman's childhood love, Stefanie "Fanny" Fernandes, though nobody knows whether she's alive or dead or just a figment of someone's imagination. However, the friends get lost, and the journey – originally intended to take 20 minutes – instead takes one and a half days.
The new Queen of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone shines in the trailer of 'Finding Fanny' as Angie. She enters the screen wearing a white frilled apron and a flowered dress, while holding a chopped chicken in one hand and a butchers knife in the other.
The second screenshot of Padukone contrasts the image given as she is wearing an ivory wedding dress, standing over her husband who had died from choking at the altar, while she claims that she is still a virgin.
Arjun Kapoor brings a cool and composed hipster vibe to the film as Savio Da Gama, yet as the trailer progresses we are able to see further dimensions of Arjun’s character reminiscent of an “angry young man”.
Arjun Kapoor In 'Finding Fanny'
Pankaj Kapur, who was last shown on screen with his remarkable portrayal of the drunk and disorderly Harry in “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” shines yet again as “Don Pedro Cleto Colaco” a perverse elderly man who is still exuberant with youth, chasing the affections of Dimple Kapadia.
Kapadia on the other hand plays Rosalina, a recently widowed woman who claims “I may be a lady, but I can protect myself”.
Naseeruddin Shah, renown for his acting prowess seems to be the protagonist of the film. All eyes are on Shah as he portrays Ferdie, a man who is regretful because he was never able to voice his affections towards his love, “Fanny Fernandes”.
The group embark on an adventure to unite Ferdie (Shah) the postman with Fanny (Anjali Patil) his childhood love, learning lessons on love, friendship, and unity along the way.
Homi Adajania, who previously worked with Deepika Padukone in Cocktail, as well as having made the critically acclaimed “Being Cyrus”, has written and directed “Finding Fernandes”, the upcoming English-language comedy.
Dinesh Vijan has produced the film under Maddock Films, and is presented by Fox Star Studios.
'Finding Fanny' was apparently shot in 36 days after the shooting had started on October, 2013. The film takes place in Goa, as the trailer shows the star cast ensemble gliding against hilly terrains and venturing upon a small boat to reach Fanny’s destination.
Finding Fanny will be showcased in both Hindi and English in order to cater to both the Indian audience, and the international audience.
Director Homi Adajania has expressed interest in premiering 'Finding Fanny' at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film is scheduled for a release on September 12, 2014.
