Bollywood’s one and only laugh riot for the summer arrived this week as the outrageous comedy HUMSHAKALS came crashing into theaters across North America this Friday, June 20.
Director Sajid Khan follows up his successful Housefull hits with three times the chaos and confusion with the stars taking on triple roles for the first time ever.
Lead actor Saif Ali Khan sat down to talk about working on this wild new comedy, mimicking his father-in-law, Kareena Kapoor and more.

Q. What kind of comedy should fans prepare themselves to see from you in HUMSHAKALS?
A. “I do not have an issue potentially making an ass of myself. It does not worry me. I have found that the basic level of comedy comes easy to me and a great comedy is something else and Sajid Khan’s comedy is also something else. You need to have knowledge of commercial cinema to imitate actors like Rajendra Kumar, my father-in-law (Randhir Kapoor) and others.”

Q. How did you enjoy working with comedy king Sajid Khan?
A. “HUMSHAKALS is a crazy Sajid Khan comedy kind of film. He worked extra hard on this because he felt that he has a point to prove to the world. I wanted to work with Sajid.”

Q. Of your many avatars in this film, you get to dress up as a woman and do a Bollywood number with Riteish Deshmukh. How was that?
A. “It was very interesting. It was hot, I was wearing a swimming costume, and I was looking at Riteish. I was wondering if this was the right co-star to take my career forward! But it was great working with him. He is very attractive!”

Q.How did Kareena Kapoor react to you mimicking her father Randhir Kapoor in HUMSHAKALS?
A. “Imitation is the highest form of flattery and Sajid is great friends with my father-in-law. So it comes with great respect and a sense of humor. Kareena reacted by saying, ‘Oh God, Saif, I think Sajid is making too much fun of my family, but I am sure it's really funny.’ And then she showed me how she imitates her father. I also made her say the line from the movie.”

Q. What did Kareena think of your scenes when you were dressed as a very glamorous woman?
A: She was amazingly sporting. She laughed and thought it was funny and if I had been in her place I think I would have filed for divorce! (smiles) She found my chest too large. But I liked it!
