Indo-Canadian YouTube megastar Lilly Singh, AKA Superwoman, added another prestigious accolade to her already lengthy list of achievements this week. She won not one but two Teen Choice Awards!
Singh’s unique brand of comedy and straight-shooting, positive personality has won her fans around the world from all walks of life, so it’s no surprise she picked up the night's biggest prizes in the web and digital category — Choice Web Star: Female and Choice Web Star: Comedy.
While she was unable to attend the awards in California and pick up her ceremonial surfboards in person, she posted the speech she would have given on Instagram.
Asserting the validity and legitimacy of those who have found success via the internet, she said “We are not just numbers and views. We are creators who own businesses and are here to stay.”
Other big winners of the night included Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, prompting Singh to excitedly tweet about a headline that included all three of their names between sending out many thanks and shoutouts to her fans and well-wishers.
Singh is currently in Italy working on what we’re sure is another exciting endeavour. She posted a photo with actress Charlize Theron, lending her support to #GenEndIt — a global collective of organizations, individuals and initiatives determined to end AIDS by 2030.
The ANOKHI Award–winning comedian has been on a roll for quite a while now, and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. She recently collaborated with makeup giant SMASHBOX to create a shade of red lipstick called “BAWSE,” available at major retail stores in North America. She also made a cameo in the new Hollywood film Bad Moms, starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Christina Applegate, Jada Pinkett Smith and Kathryn Hahn. Plus, she’s set to launch her book How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life in early 2017 along with having many other projects on the go.
It looks like Lilly is living up to her “Superwoman” moniker!
