Good news for all those who have been following Gurdeep Ahluwalia as the weekend co-host, weekday correspondent and anchor on CP24 Breakfast. TSN announced today that Gurdeep will now be seen on 'Canada’s Sports Leader' as their freshest anchor and reporter for SPORTSCENTRE, the most popular show in the country, covering sports news and information.
Although, Ahluwalia was seen making special appearances on TSN when associated with CP24, he will now be seen in a full-time avatar as a host and reporter, while also putting in features from the Toronto sports scenario.
He will be seen making his debut in his latest role on Friday, Nov. 15, at 9:30 p.m. ET on TSN.
Mark Milliere, Senior Vice-President of production, TSN is full of appreciation for the broadcaster based in Toronto. According to him, “Gurdeep is personable and charismatic, and he brings to TSN both a compelling anchor presence as well as considerable reporting skills,” Milliere also feels confident that Ahluwalia “will be another valuable and trusted voice on our all-star talent roster. We’re excited to add him to the team on a dedicated basis.”
Milliere’s appreciation and excitement come as no surprise to those who are aware of the path Ahluwalia’s career has traced. He graduated from the Mass Media Communications and Sociology program at McMaster University. He worked as sports editor for the campus newspaper. He was also the host and producer for a sports talk radio show on 93.3 CFMU McMaster Campus Radio.
Ahluwalia has considerable experience working with diverse news and sports media companies in the Greater Toronto Area. He began work as a story editor at SPORTSCENTRE. Now becoming TSN’s new voice on-air, he follows the example of other popular names like Rod Smith and John Lu, among others, whose broadcast careers have followed a similar trajectory.
With his zeal and charm, Ahluwalia shows very high potential of becoming the new jewel in TSN’s crown.
TSN is the country’s Sports Leader and a top specialty network, with an extremely impressive range of multimedia sports assets associated with its name.
It is the official broadcaster of the Grey Cup, IIHF World Junior Championship and FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.
