Actor Paul Walker, best known for his role in The Fast and the Furious (Fast & Furious) movies, died in a car crash north of Los Angeles on Nov.30, Saturday afternoon. He was 40.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as financial advisor and fellow car enthusiast Roger Rodas, CEO of Walker's company Always Evolving.
"The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames," the police said in a statement.
"This is an ongoing investigation," Deputy Heischuber of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station said as reported in People.com. "A solo car crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the city of Santa Clarita, on the outskirts of Valencia. A 911 call came in from a bystander."

A Tweet from Walker's verified account later read: It's with a heavy heart that we must confirm Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident.

At the time of his death, the actor had been attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide, according to a post on his official Facebook page. "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences."

Several hollywood celebs mourned the actor's sudden death including Universal Pictures. "All of us at Universal are heartbroken," the studio released a statement. "Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the 'Fast and Furious' films, and to countless fans."
According to CNN on Monday morning, Sgt. Richard Cohen said that investigators received a phone call tip claiming that another car was at the scene of the accident that killed the actor. Walker had been riding in a Porsche GT with friend Roger Rodas when the latter lost control of the car and it slammed into a tree, killing both of them. Tire marks on the road near the crash site indicated the car was doing doughnut spins, though it's unclear whether they're related to Walker's crash.
"Naturally, from an investigative standpoint," Sgt. Cohen said, "we need to find out if that is one of the issues."
After a string of TV roles as a child in the '80s, Walker made his feature film debut in the 1998 comedy Meet the Deedles. Supporting roles in the films Pleasantville, Varsity Blues and She's All That followed.
His performance in the 2000 thriller The Skulls caught the eye of producer Neal H. Moritz, who cast him in Fast & Furious as undercover police officer Brian O'Conner. Adapted from a Vibe magazine article about underground street races, the film became an unexpected hit.
Walker leaves behind his 15-year-old daughter.
