Toronto International Film Festival’s 2nd Annual Fundraiser Gala goes Bollywood this year, by commemorating “100 Years of Indian Cinema” on September 7th, 2013 at the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts.
Deepa Mehta’s idea of turning the gala into a celebration of Indian Cinema turned into a project she herself is undertaking as the creative director. Daughter Devyani Saltzman is spearheading the entertainment script, and hosts Zaib Shaikh and Anita Majumder will walk the audiences through a history of Indian cinema by showcasing some of India’s landmark movies.
The stage of the opera house will be set up for a luxurious feast, provided by none other than celebrity chef Vikram Vij, while audiences can enjoy live stage performances.
The aim of the fancy dinner is to highlight contributions that the Indian cinema and culture has had over the world in the past 100 years of its existence.
