Reincarnation – China
Don’t be depressed, you CAN still go for reincarnation, you just need government approval about how you want to do it, and what you want to be in your next life. The law, imposed in 2007, is mainly targeting Budhist monks called Tulkus, who believe they can choose the hows and whats of reincarnation themselves.
Emo Dressing – Russia
Russian government believes emo behavior is the leading cause of depression, sadness and resultant high suicide rates among teenagers. The result? Dressing in an “emo” attire has been banned in public schools and government buildings. This means no to any combination of all black clothing, black lipstick, heavy fringes et cetera.
Unique Baby Names – Denmark
The government has released a list of about 7,000 pre-approved names for any babies born in Denmark. If you want to go another way, you need prior approval.
Small Breasts in Pornography – Australia
Australian group called Kids Free 2B Kids feels small-sized or flat chested women in pornography promote pedophilia, and hence should be banned from appearing in adult movies. The government agrees.
Western Hairstyles – Iran
Iran, in its attempt to keep anything “western” at bay, has released a list of hairstyles that have been approved by the government. Ofcourse this means styles such as mohawks, mullets, spikes(and emo, in solidarity with Russia) et cetera are not allowed. Salons violating this law can be penalized and lose their lisences.
Women Driving – Saudi Arabia
As a female, you cannot get behind the wheel in Saudi Arabia, owing to its highly patriarchal society and well-defined gender roles.
