Valerie Bertenelli Feels "Shame" For Recent Weight Gain
Celebrities have always been under the public radar for their weight. Whether it’s Jessica Simpson, Oprah Winfrey, or Sonakshi Sinha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, female celebrities in particular are under constant pressure to look slim.

Jenny Craig spokeswoman and 'Hot in Cleveland' star Valerie Bertinelli is the recent victim for being criticized for gaining 40 pounds back after a foot injury which prevented her from working out. The 53-year-old actress reportedly lost 49 pounds, going from 172 pounds to 123 while on the Jenny Craig diet.
Bertinelli appeared on the daytime show 'The Talk' and admitted to feeling shame for putting the weight back on. She said, “This is my body. I’m almost 54. I broke my foot. Why do I feel so much shame? Because the cameras are on me? Because the paparazzi can’t wait to get a picture of me looking like I’ve gained a few pounds. We need to take the shame out of it.”
Actress Kirstie Alley, the re-signed face of Jenny Craig spoke about the controversy regarding Valerie’s weight gain. She told ET News “Life is a continuum, and we have ups and downs..but she broke her ankle! I don’t think she should have to justify anything.”
A recent rise to fame, Sandeep Sachdev, contestant on The Biggest Loser India has had to face the pressures of living in the public eye after his triumphant win. While in conversation with ANOKHI MEDIA about Valerie Bertinelli’s weight gain, he said, “For a person like Valerie, losing weight again will not be a problem, because she has already done it once. The problem is that she’s being criticized about her weight gain, so of course her motivational level will go down. If she can properly understand why and how she gained weight, it will be easy for her to get back on track.”
Sandeep also spoke of the after effects of maintaining a healthy lifestyle after the completion of The Biggest Loser. He said, “After I won Biggest Loser, I got into the fitness industry and started to put the concepts I learned on the show into effect. I was combining my experience and education I received on the show through the medical directors, trainers, and nutritionists. I realized how easy it was to lose weight, but it’s not easy to maintain that weight loss. Out of the 16 contestants on Biggest Loser, I can tell you very affirmatively that around 14 of them have gained weight."
When it comes to Bollywood, you simply can't win. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, universally known as the most beautiful woman in the world was criticized for her weight gain after delivering her daughter Aaradhya. The backlash arose when she was photographed at the Cannes Film Festival sporting her newly voluptuous figure post-baby. Kareena Kapoor Khan on the other hand was also a target of criticism when she was filmed sporting a “size zero” physique for the movie Tashan, which she starred in next to her husband, Saif Ali Khan.

Valerie Bertinelli later stated in her TV interview that, "We all need to give each other a break, especially women. Let’s leave each other alone”. We can't agree more! Drop us a line and tell us what you think of the weight controversy.
