Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's father Dr. Ashok Chopra, passed away on June 10, and was cremated on Monday evening (India Time) at Mumbai's Oshiwara crematorium.
Priyanka was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri, both physicians by profession. Dr. Chopra was in the army and thus his family moved quite frequently. He hailed from a family of Punjabi origin, settled in Bareilly. Priyanka also has a brother, Siddharth, who is seven years younger than she is.
Back in 2005 when she was shooting for Rohan Sippy's 'Bluffmaster' her father was first diagnosed with cancer. Priyanka had not shared her agony with anyone on the sets even then.

Priyanka was extremely close to her father, and even has a tattoo – "Daddy's Li'l Girl", on her wrist. Priyanka's doctor father, Lt. Col Ashok Chopra, retired from the Indian Army in 1997 and was a constant support to Priyanka in all her endeavours.
Worried Priyanka Chopra, tweeted ‘Mahamrityunjaya Mantra’ on Twitter on June 7 and after that the actress had drawn into her own shell avoiding the media, her work and all professional matters to tend to her father who was admitted at Kokilaben hospital.
Priyanka had reportedly organised a Mahamrityunjay puja at her home, for her father's recovery, recently.
