On Sunday, May 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. the 29th Annual World Partnership Walk will be taking place at the Metro Hall in Toronto.
The Walk which is an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC), is a non-profit international agency and registered Canadian charity, working in Asia and Africa to find sustainable solutions to the complex problems causing global poverty.
One of the great things about this charity is that 100% of funds raised go directly to poverty alleviating programs, including health, education, rural development, and supporting community-based organizations. Funds raised also leverage additional support from large donors like the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
The World Partnership Walk is Canada's largest annual event dedicated to increasing awareness and funds to fight global poverty.
Last year close to 40,000 people and more than 500 corporate and community teams participated in the Walk in 10 cities across the country (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Regina, Vancouver, and Victoria).
Over the 28years this charity has been in place, more than $75 million has been raised.
Join the cause of sustaining and securing a nation in need by either walking, becoming an infield AKFC worker in East Africa and Central Asia and in turn create your own inspirational story just like the ambassadors who are making a meaningful difference in their local GTA communities.
