
Freida Pinto Joins UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon At The World Bank Headquarters

Actress and activist Freida Pinto who is the global ambassador for Plan UK's 'Because I am a Girl' campaign which strives to support four million girls to stay in education, spoke alongside the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon and others at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC. The event was part of 'The Final Sprint to 2015: Delivering Quality Education & Learning for All' summit . The actress dressed in a turquoise Rachel Roy ensemble spoke on the 'One Girl With Courage Is A Revolution' panel to discuss the issue of education before the showing of the groundbreaking film 'Girl Rising' directed by academy award nominee, Richard Robbins.

Freida said: "Education has given me not just the power to dream but the confidence to go out there and make my dreams come true. I believe this campaign will help engender the shift in consciousness which is required for girls to thrive, and today's Learning For All ministerial meeting has further solidified this belief…."
The film tells the story of 9 girls all from different countries narrated by 9 well known actresses that highlights the strength of the human spirit and the power of education impacting change.
The summit also brought together Heads of United Nations agencies as well as countries and key organizations to look at ways in how to speed up the process of reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) deadline in relation to education.
