One of the fashion designers showcasing at IIFA, the prestigious International India Film Acadamy is the much sought after Vikram Phadnis himself who was recently awarded the ‘Excellence in Fashion Design’ at the recent ANOKHI Awards this past Feb.
Flamboyant is my definition of fashion; high on style quotient with an element of ‘bling’ that can turn any girl-next-door into a fashion diva.” Vikram Phadnis, This self-taught designer to the stars despite having no formal education has managed to bag a solid career with nothing but his raw talent and drive to succeed .
The Indian designer’s recent S/S 2011 collection was a mix of fuchsias, emerald greens, golds, blacks, reds and oranges on the catwalk in contemporary beaded silk saris and skirts. A blend of east meets India with multi-coloured douppioni silk, organza, chiffon and charmeuse, as well as asian-inspired pieces with Mandarin collars and Chinese brocades that make up his version of traditional wear.
