When two history students travelled extensively through India, it wasn’t the Mahasati stone artifact calling; instead, Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera combed remote corners of their homeland in search for the exclusive and ancient art of fine jewelry.
Thirty three years and an influx of prestigious industry awards later—including Best Jewelry Award in 2007— gem aficionados, now known as, Amrapali, find themselves critically acclaimed as two of their country’s finest jewelers.
Setting up shop in Rajasthan, Amrapali’s payroll employ over 1200 local goldsmiths and artisans who use ethnic elements of chic Indian design to give face—and name— to contemporary luxury in jewelry making, as we know it.
Masterfully perpetuating their tradition of creativity and excellence, it came as no surprise to see Ampari adorning celebrities on red carpet of the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, held this year at the Staples Centre in sunny Los Angeles.
American songstress Sara Bareilles boasted a red marocain silk bustier dress (from Middle-Eastern label Ghadah Paris), proudly garnished with Amrapali ear, wrist and finger art.
Worldwide, the Amrapali collections can be found in over 36 outlets across London, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Los Angeles and New York.
