Spice Up Your Workouts Bollywood-Style!
As the colder months approach and we trade in swimming and jogging for weight machines and treadmills, it can be hard to stay motivated and keep workouts fresh with stale, boring gym routines. So fret no more because here is the latest in workouts geared to bring some sizzle back to your regime!
BollyFIT — a new type of dance workout can help add some spice and heat to your exercise regime this winter by combining aerobic movements with muscle conditioning and interval training all hidden under the guise of Indian style dancing. The latest Bollywood songs provide the soundtrack to the classes while new dance moves are added to keep each class fresh and exciting.
Canadian founder of BollyFIT, Reshmi Chetram, left Toronto for India at the age of 18 to study Kathak dancing and by the age of 21 had designed a program that combined her passion for dance and fitness and turned it into a thriving business which has now expanded to 5 different locations across the Greater Toronto Area.
With no equipment or previous dance experience needed, this program is accessible for people of all fitness levels and ages. Classes like BollyTots and Moms & Tots for kids makes it a family affair, and a great way to incorporate physical fitness into your child's activities. BollyFIT Couples classes were just recently introduced, and are a fun way to shimmy it up with your significant other.
Chetram has high hopes for expanding on the success of BollyFIT with dreams of having her classes taught at all of the major gyms in Canada as a part of regular fitness class schedules. She is well on her way to achieving her dreams with a television show in the works, based on the BollyFIT program set to air on November 16 on the ONE Channel (check local listing for times) as well as a licensing program for new instructors to become certified BollyFIT trainers.
Chetram has also founded the non-profit organization Dance for Life Foundation of Canada which brings together communities of dancers to give back to those in need. For more information click on bollyfitinternational.com as well as danceforlifefoundation.ca
