Located in West Hollywood, along the iconic Sunset Strip, is Andaz West Hollywood. The hotel offers Los Angeles’ highest rooftop pool, mesmerizing views, and some of the most rocking parties in Hollywood history.
Formerly known as Continental Hyatt House, it was commonly referred to as the Riot House during the 60s and 70s, and the hotel earned that nickname: it was there, on a hotel balcony, that Robert Plant screamed, "I am a Golden God," Jim Morrison was evicted after hanging off the balcony from his fingertips, and Little Richard could be found performing in the lobby.
The hotel has 239 rooms with multiple views of the Hollywood Hills, the Sunset Strip, and downtown Los Angeles. Its location is perfect for those looking to groove with the LA scene; the hotel is right across from the House of Blues and The Comedy Store. Andaz is located near 120 different types of restaurants, cafes, and delis to tantalize your taste buds, and 40 nightclubs and lounges for you to dance the night away.
The hotel's many amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, a daily replenished non-alcoholic mini bar, in room movies, newspaper delivery, and an iron with an ironing board. Available to guests are 24-hour fitness room and room service; the hotel offers dry cleaning and laundry service, currency exchange, complimentary safety deposit boxes, and an ATM.
Recently repolished, the hotel still honours its star-studded past, but maintains a simple elegance: Once the site of rocker chaos, the hotel balconies now serve as sunrooms. Design firm Janson Goldstein LLP revamped Andaz's architectural and interior design, with each hotel room having curved and canopied ceilings, blue grass headboards, and bathrooms decorated with Calcutta marble mosaic.
Offering a unique and ethereal no walls ambiance, the hotel’s front facade houses Departure- a grand 11-foot-tall aluminum and stainless steel sculpture- constructed with hand-painted metal disks. The sculpture, by artist Jacob Hashimoto, not only accentuates the ambiance of the hotel, but also prepares the guests for the adventures that await within this historic venue.
