October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This month is about raising awareness and funds for breast cancer. According to BreastCancer.org, there is an estimated 232, 670 new cases of invasive breast cancer in US women, and 62, 570 cases of non-invasive breast cancer cases in North America. It is crucial that the cancer is detected in its early stages; this can be done through various processes such as annual mammogram tests. Waze

Waze, a navigation app, is celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month by mapping all the mammography screening center locations (8100 places) in the United States. Drivers will see pink ribbons if they search using the keyword, “pink” in the search box.
Pennington’s ActiveZone Collection

As one of the first designers of women's plus-size activewear, Penningtons have collaborated with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and created a collection of feel good clothing called ActiveZone. The collection targets women's style, comfort and curve-hugging needs helping them feel confident to lead an active lifestyle. For every two items sold they will be donating $5 CDN.
AVON FOUNDATION
The Avon Foundation for Women are donating a total of one million dollars in donations to Canadian breast cancer charities, dividing the sum into ten grants of $100, 000 CDN. Charitable organizations supporting breast cancer patients, need to register by October 31, 2014 to qualify. Funds will be allocated in January of next year.

A fun local competiton involving influencers styled products that helped rethink breast cancer, an organization that supports young adults concerned about or affected by breast cancer through education and research. The fun competition included participants such as TV Host Aliya-Jasmine Sovani , stylist Ericka Wark, Real Life Runway’s Sarah Francis; the Toronto Argonauts Cheerleaders and TV host and producer Lauren Toyota to name a few. Celebrity participants were Dan Frenette, Nick Liu, Social Common, Lucky Bromhead, Melinda Shankar, and Max Valiquette. To learn more about the event and winners, click here.
