Fairmont Royal York & Mill Street Brewery Announce Beer Naming Contest
The Fairmont Royal York And Mill Street Brewery Want You to ‘Bee the Name Behind the Beer’!
The Fairmount Royal York has partnered up with Mill Street Brewery for a new contest that lets you name the Toronto landmark hotel’s award-winning Honey Cream Ale.
Mill Street Brewery was founded in 2002, becoming East Toronto’s first commercial microbrewery to open in more than 100 years. The brewery has been named Best Canadian Brewery Award three times, and 100 awards for their craft beers since opening.
And of course, without the bees, there would be no honey! And without the honey, there would be no Honey Cream Ale. Approximately 350,000 honeybees reside on the rooftop of the The Fairmont Royal York in six beehives, producing an average of 450 pounds of honey per year that is used in menu items throughout the hotel’s outlets.
The Fairmont Royal York partnered with Mill St. Brewery in 2011 to create Mill Street’s first-ever brewed honey beer exclusively for the hotel using the honey produced from the rooftop hives. The beer won a Bronze Medal at the 2011 Canadian Brewing Awards.
Check out the contest on The Fairmont Royal York’s social media outlets on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #BeeTheName. You can email your name idea for the Honey Cream Ale, along with a brief reasoning why you chose that name (50 words or less!), to [email protected].
The contest closes Friday, July 25 and the top three submitted names will be chosen by The Fairmont Royal York and Mill St. Brewery, with voting by the public through social media outlets until August 1 to determine the final winner.
The lucky contest winner will win an all-expense paid trip to Toronto, including round-trip airfare, along with dinner and drinks at Mill St. Brew Pub The Beer Hall, including a tour of the brewery.
The winner will also receive a two-night stay at The Fairmont Royal York and two tickets to the much anticipated second annual #TWIFF event surrounded by entertainment, social media enthusiasts, and of course, beer. #TWIFF is best described as part Twitter party, part launch to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), with more than 1200 guests and press attending last year. But most importantly, the winner will receive proud rights to being the name behind the beer!
