South Asian Element At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W 2013 In New York

?As the Fall/winter 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York comes to a close we recap over the South Asian element and the designers who showcased their Fall/Winter 2013 collections.

PRABAL GURUNG.

Prabal known for his focus on quality and innovation has earned himself a placed at the forefront of American fashion with designs worn by the First Lady Michelle Obama and The Duchess of Cambridge.

He showcased his ICB By Prabal Gurung Fall 2013 collection on Monday, Feb 11th. Well-structured pieces that evoke a sophisticated vibe were cleverly mixed with prints, fur and flirty ruffle sleeves.

Colours noted: black, grey, royal blue, yellow, burgundy and a delicious teal.

NAEEM KHAN

One of the biggest names in fashion: Naeem Khan has an outstanding celebrity fan base from royalty to entertainment divas and his designs have also made it on screen in films such as Sex & the City and Dreamgirls.

His luxurious collection showcased ON Feb 12^thconsisting of impeccably cut dresses, sophisticated gowns and chic separates, all embroidered by hand with the inspiration of Art Deco.

BIBHU MOHAPATRA.

Bibhu Mohapatra's appreciation for Indian fabrics and vibrant colors inspire Bibhu's designs which can be seen throughout the collections of his label. His fall/winter collection which took place Wednesday Feb 13^th saw a lot of belted waists with mixes of fur and laser cut leather for day and for evening ultra-long, floor scrapping dresses with a grand finale being a velvet gown .

Colours noted: Black n White combos, navy, silver, grey, blue and mustard.

FALGUNI AND SHANE PEACOCK

Falguni & Shane Peacock, the recent fashion highlight to ANOKHI's 10^th Anniversary event have built a career in fashion by following their own set of rules, the result: unique & unusual styling to create their version of Lux.

This is no collection for the timid at heart. Metal breast plates combined with rich prints, beaded pieces, lace and leather left us thinking dominatrix 2013. The phrase 'Wild Child' was encrusted on coats.
