Tinder Sets Up First International Office In India
Step aside shaadi.com…The popular dating app Tinder is taking India by storm.
Tinder has seen tremendous growth in India this past year, with a 400% increase in downloads in 2015, 7.5 million swipes daily and a 1% daily increase in users. It's no wonder that Tinder announced that it will be setting up its first international office in Delhi.
According to Quartz India, the dating app's newly appointed India head, Taru Kapoor, believes India could become Tinder's largest market. This goal, however, doesn't come without challenges. The purpose of setting up shop in Delhi is to help localize the dating app and tend to specific user needs in the area. For example, Uber in India accepts cash payments.

Tinder's Delhi office will need to take a unique approach with the local app to cater to India's dating culture. Although the company hasn't released the changes we can expect, it receives 100 emails daily with user feedback that it has already started incorporating. The most recent update is displaying job and education details, a change that was most requested among Indian users.

Increased Privacy
In most of India, casual dating is still considered a taboo. Perhaps increasing user privacy settings so that users can control who sees their profile can alleviate some concerns.
Filter by Religion, Caste, or Community
India is home to many religions and cultures, but many people still prefer to marry within the same religion, culture and caste. Providing users the ability to filter by these criteria could help increase the app's popularity.
Income
Almost all popular Indian matchmaking services allow users to search for their partner using income as a criterion. It's clearly an important factor in finding a mate, which could ultimately lead to marriage.
