Great news, entrepreneurs! The government of India is about to unveil its Action Plan for the Start-Up India campaign on January 16, 2016.
The news was announced on the radio program Mann Ki Baat.
The Prime Minister's Office, departments of industrial policy, telecommunications and information technology are committed to set up a complete ecosystem for start-ups.
Senior government officials, bankers and venture capitalists will join the event. Higher education institutes — including IITs, IIMs and NITs — will also participate through a live connection.

Prime Minister Modi made the initial announcement of the program on Indian Independence Day, August 15, 2015.
The programme seeks to boost employment and economic growth in India via start-ups.
The catchy slogan "Start Up India, Stand Up India" ties in effectively with the incentives offered to entrepreneurs.
The program particularly encourages youth, women and people from tribal areas. Modi had stated that each of the 1.25 lakh bank branches should encourage at least one Dalit or tribal entrepreneur and at least one woman entrepreneur.

The Modi government is working actively on this program. In the budget this year, they announced their intention to set up the India Aspiration Fund and Atal Innovation Mission to encourage financing for start-ups.
India is among the world's five largest start-up communities. The country has created more than 80,000 jobs to date, according to NASSCOM.
