‘Facebook Mom’ Flies Down From The US To Be A Part Of Foster Son’s Traditional Indian Wedding

Not all parent-child bonds are bound by biological or cultural parameters! This is certainly the precedent set by India's Krishna Mohan Tripathi and the US-based Deb Miller, who developed a tender and affectionate connection with each other through Facebook.
The 28-year-old Tripathi is an MSc law student at Awadh University. He lost his mother at a young age and found maternal kindness in the 60-year-old Miller. She felt the same affection for him, noting, "I do not have children and when I interacted with Krishna, I felt God had fulfilled my wishes."
Their touching story shows the power of love, which transcends cultures and other superficial barriers. It also points to the role of social media in helping form a global community.
The virtual family dignified their symbolic mother-son relationship by meeting up. He invited her to his wedding, and she accepted gladly.

Miller travelled to India and was delighted to meet Tripathi. She gifted him an antique ring and other presents worth Rs. 25 lacs.
Miller was thrilled to be a part of the festivities. She wore a Banarsi silk saree and enjoyed henna on her hands.
She became especially fond of the Indian sarees. She explained, "I used to see Indian women (wearing saree) on TV and always wondered how they carried it. However, it is a very nice and suave dress. I am taking back two dozen sarees as return gifts."

Humbled by the love she received in India, Miller stated, "I don't have words to describe how well I've been treated. I just want to thank Krishna and his family for having the faith to bring me here, and make me part of their lives."
The wedding is certainly not the final stop for Miller and Tripathi. She intends to come back and visit the Taj Mahal with him. He's also promised to pay her a visit in the United States.
