Festivalgoers will be immersed in a riveting and magical world of culture and clouds of colourful powder and paints. Pride Toronto will partner with Besharam to show just how vibrant and multicultural Toronto can be at Bend It Like Bombay.
This celebration of South Asia’s colourful festival of Holi features the provocative themes of renewal, sexual desire and the triumph of good. Bend It Like Bombay will showcase tantalizing performances by musicians, activists and dancers, such as female tabla player Anita Khatakkar (of Rakkatak), dancer Hariqbal Basi (from NYC), RAJA, winner RuPaul's Drag Race.
The night features DJ Amita from Besharam and guest DJ Sikh Knowledge. Hosted by our very own Daniel Pillai from ANOKHI MEDIA and Malika Jaan. Guest appearances by Pooja Handa, Co-Host & News Anchor of CP24 and City of Toronto's Film Commissioner, Zaib Shaikh.
This “bombaylicious” celebration will also welcome Pride Toronto’s 2015 International Grand Marshall, Bollywood star and United Nations champion Celina Jaitly, who will take the stage as Bend It Like Bombay’s guest of honour.
