NE-YO Signs Sonna Rele To Universal Motown Records
Neyo & Sonna at Mastercard'S Priceless event.
Three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, actor and philanthropist NE-YO has signed British Asian female artist, singer/songwriter Sonna Rele to a recording contract with Universal Motown Records.
The signing marks as NE-YO's first international pick as Senior Vice President of Artist & Repertoire at Universal Motown Records. The multi-faceted entertainer made his first pick an occasion to remember by surprised Sonna with presenting her with the record deal onstage during his performance at MasterCard's "Priceless Gig" show, held March 7 in London, England.
On signing Sonna, NE-YO stated, "There is a quality about Sonna's voice that lingers in your ears after she performs a song. Her musicianship, which caught my attention via her 'Music Monday' videos on Facebook, is refreshing and undeniably authentic."
An excited Sonna shared, "I'm very humbled that a global superstar like NE-YO supports my music wholeheartedly enough to present me with a recording contract with Universal Motown Records. I've been working hard for this moment and I'm truly grateful for this opportunity. It's going to be an amazing journey ahead."
According to desiblitz.com Music producer Livingstone Brown first discovered the North West London native back in 2001, at the tender age of 15 and helped to develop her career. She was nicknamed the 'Asian Alicia Keys'.
The U.K. export has generated a buzz with her soprano vocals, known to deliver killer performances, in particular her acoustic versions of songs by Mumford & Sons and Ellie Goulding, as well as her own material which all reflect the artist's diverse palette and talent to transform songs into her own.
