20th Annual Screen Awards Highlights

The 20th Annual Life OK Screen Awards, held on January 14th kick started the award season in India. The event was packed with some stunning red carpet moments, stellar performances and awards.

Bollywood heavyweight Shah Rukh Khan hosted the awards show in Mumbai with his usual charm, entertaining the who's who of Bollywood. Biggies like Sonakshi Sinha, Kajol, Manoj Kumar, Bipasha Basu, Chitrangada Singh, Huma Qureshi, Karan Johar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani among others were all in attendance.

Here are some of the our fav highlights of the night.

Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Best Actor (Popular) for his role in 'Chennai Express'. The star thanked his kids for being his inspiration while accepting the award from actress Rekha.

Deepika Padukone won the Best Actress award for 'Ram Leela' and 'Chennai Express' while co-star Ranveer Singh looked both happy and dapper with Ram Leela's 17 nominations.

Farhan Akhtar all smiles alongside wife Adhuna. The Best Actor (Jury) went to Farhan for his role in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'.

The three ladies of the Mukherjee clan were all smiles as mom Tanuja bagged the Best Actress (Marathi) Award.

Amitabh Bachchan was presented with the Award by his long-time contemporaries and close friends from the film fraternity, actor Shatrughan Sinha and filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra / Indianexpress.com

When it came to stunning performances, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Shahid Kapoor, Ali Zafar and Ranveer Singh hit a home run.

Bollywood heartthrob Varun Dhawan made an entry onto the stage on a time machine, as he danced to a few numbers including ‘Ishq Waala Love’ and ‘Tum Hi Ho’ along with television actress Shraddha Aarya.

Shahid Kapoor’s energy-packed dance act on hit songs ‘Gandi Baat’ from ‘R…Rajkumar’ and ‘Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai’ from ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ was also a crowd pleaser.

'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' won the Best Film award for its brilliant portrayal of athelete Milkha Singh's life however the big winner of the night went to John Abraham's 'Madras Cafe' which fetched four awards including the 'Best Director' trophy for its director, Shoojit Sircar.

Experimental, off beat films like 'Ship Of Theseus' and 'The Lunchbox' rubbed shoulder with commercial films like 'Chennai Express' and 'Aashiqui 2' in the winners list. While 'The Lunchbox' director Ritesh Batra was given the Best Director (Debut ) award, Anand Gandhi's film was given a special award.

The most surprising highlight of the night was off-stage with the cordial meeting between Rekha and the Bachchans captured on camera.
