The Blue Suit: My Key Transitional Piece This Spring
We are a four-season country, but most of us only dress for two seasons: summer and winter. We often forget that, nestled in between these two extremes, lie several months of gorgeous but highly unpredictable weather that make running around in a giant parka or shorts and a t-shirt less than ideal.
This is why investing in key pieces that allow you to transition from one season to the next is so important. Enter my favourite custom wool double-breasted suit from Gotstyle in a spring hue fave for men — blue.
Confused about the wool? Well, for starters, not all wools are the same. This suit has more of a flannel feel. Flannel is a kind of soft-woven fabric, typically made of wool or cotton, that is slightly milled and raised.

This characteristic makes flannel great for keeping you warm in the cooler months yet porous enough to avoid overheating in unpredictable spring.
The real brilliance of a great flannel suit is its versatility. As in my case, it can easily take me from my client meetings in the afternoon straight to the tents at Fashion Week. It's low-maintenance and easy to wear, and it goes with almost anything.
Here, I have complemented the suit with a wonderful striped dress shirt from Vito, air-tie (which is fashion talk for "no-tie"), a classic paisley pocket square from Amanda Christensen and a beautiful lapel flower from Hook & Albert.
To complete the outfit, I brought out my trusted blue leather oxford brogues.

Oh, and let's not forget my folio (AKA man purse). I never leave home without it because nothing is worse than seeing a well-dressed man with his pockets stuffed with unnecessary bulk. Get a folio and throw your keys, wallet and portable batteries in there, end of discussion.
