All About the Skin
The Billboard Music Awards, which were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas last night, were nothing short of an eye-opening spectacle when it came to the red carpet. Among the expected freakish ensembles (Dencia) and the disappointing "blah" (Britney Spears), a common trend was spotted gracing the carpet that we just could not ignore: exposed skin.
From thigh-high slits to sheer peek-a-boos and in-your-face cutouts, fashion was anything but timid last night. Take a look.
Céline Dion in Mugler
The iconic singer who announced her comeback to Vegas this August came clad in a figure-hugging forest green leather mini dress showing off her toned thighs in a split that wowed.
Chrissy Teigen In Balmain
The American model, TV host and wife of Oscar winner John Legend dressed up her assets in a plunging halter striped jumpsuit that we just couldn't take our eyes off of.
Zendaya in Fausto Puglisi
It was all about the midriff for the teen star who made her appearance in an animalistic colourful printed three-piece perfectly playful suit.
Taylor Swift in Balmain
It was a sleek 'n' chic ensemble for Swift, who bagged top honours with eight awards during the night. The singer opted for a sophisticated take on the cutout trend in a white jumpsuit paired with some cheeky marketing on a custom Edie Parker clutch that read "Bad Blood," the name of her new track that made its debut at the beginning of the show.
Jennifer Lopez in Charbel Zoe
There's peek-a-boo and then there's this extreme, barely-there version that leaves little to the imagination. The white and nude couture gown, similar to the one we saw Jen wear during the Met Gala, was strategically embellished in all the right places to make the gown go from X-rated to red carpet–worthy.
Rita Ora in Fausto Puglisi
While cutouts may seem edgy, this custom gown begs to differ. Held together by golden sun embellishments that are the symbol of the Puglisi label, this dress made up of pieces of fabric may seem a touch on the tacky side for some, but we hail the uniqueness — and, heck, this is the Billboards after all.
