Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal Announces Presidential Bid With Creepy Video
Culture & Lifestyle Jun 25, 2015
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal announced his bid for the Oval Office yesterday, making him the first Indian-American vying for the job as the president of the United States.
The 44 year-old two-term governor and former congressman shared his political intentions during a rally in New Orleans. Leaning on his strong Roman Catholic convictions (he was born Hindu and later converted) as his anchor for his message, he addressed his Christian conservative supporters, noting that liberals are putting Christianity “under assault.”
“I know that some believe I talk too much about my faith, but I will not be silenced,” Jindal told his elated supporters. “I will not be silenced in order to meet their expectations of political correctness. They don’t seem to accept the idea that you can be both intellectual and Christian.”
Jindal also released this super-awkward video on his Facebook page.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));
I had to tell a few people first. But I want you to be next. I’m running for President of the United States of America. Join me: http://www.bobbyjindal.com/announcement/

The hidden camera recording (from a tree) of him sharing his bid news with his family definitely made me squeamish. With bad audio and Jindal himself barely visible, it seems like a very long one minute and 48 seconds.
If this video announcement is any indication of his campaign’s media finesse, well, let’s just hope that it’s a hiccup in judgment. It will be an uphill battle for Jindal, as a Wall Street Journal–NBC News poll found him at the bottom list of the 16 candidates in the race. Zero per cent of Republican primary voters said they would pick him. The people in his campaign understand the poor numbers and quickly point out that he is the youngest candidate with the longest résumé.
Jindal needs to prove that he can handle the country's affairs, but seeing that Louisiana is in a critical situation, it will be a struggle. As the New York Times notes, “The state has the seventh-highest unemployment rate and the third-highest poverty rate in the country. In February, Moody’s Investors Service, the credit-rating agency, revised the state’s financial outlook from stable to negative, citing its structural budget imbalance.”
Due to the lack of name recognition, Jindal's controversial track record and the fact that his youth may not work in his favour, Jindal does have his work cut out for him. And here’s hoping his campaign really gets into a groove because a Trump-versus-Jindal debate battle would be the best thing since sliced bread. With or without hidden cameras.
