It’s that time of year again! The Aga Khan Foundation Canada World Partnership Walk asks you to join in making a difference for less fortunate people across the globe.
Starting in Toronto and finishing in Edmonton, Regina and Montreal, the organization will hold walks to raise money and awareness for its goal to end global poverty. The World Partnership Walk is Canada's largest fundraising event dedicated to this endeavour.

One of the important goals of the walk is improved education. WPW believes, “Education is a ladder to climb out of poverty. But in Pakistan, 1 in 3 children do not complete primary school. That's why AKFC works with communities and governments to improve education quality, increase class attendance and help children reach their potential.”
The organization supports projects that local communities not only identify but also implement themselves. These projects boost a rural economy, bring clean water and sanitation, strengthen community organizations and educate the budding generation of girls and women.
During this initiative's 31-year history, ambassadors, volunteers, sponsors and donors have collaborated to help make the mandate a success. They've raised almost $90 million to date. Last year, over 40,000 collaborators raised over $7 million, answering the call to walk across 10 Canadian cities.
This year, the walk will take place at:
Toronto — Sunday, May 24
Ottawa, Vancouver, and Victoria — Sunday, May 31
Calgary, London, and Kitchener-Waterloo — Sunday, June 7
Edmonton, Regina, Montreal — Sunday, June 14
To join the initiative, you can either join a team or create your own band of poverty-fighters. There are five different ways to contribute:
- register as an Individual
- sponsor a participant
- create or join a team
- involve your company
- volunteer
