Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained once again at the Los Angeles airport, igniting fan rage online!
It happened again! Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan came to the United States for a visit and was detained at the airport. At this point, it's a saga that seems to have multiple chapters, but the actor takes it all in stride and encourages others to do so as well.
After being detained, SRK took to Twitter to voice his frustration, much to his fans' dismay. Immediately after, the U.S. Ambassador to New Delhi, Richard R. Verma, responded with an apology in a tweet saying the U.S. government was working to "to ensure it doesn't happen again." But in true Bollywood royalty style, SRK showed off his calm demeanour.
And Khan even joked about what he did while detained, which had us all on the floor laughing.
But while this happened a few days ago, racial profiling remains a topic of conversation. Apart from Khan, his fans also took to Twitter to share their outrage against the racial discrimination of Indians and especially Muslims in the United States.
Well, this is not the first time Khan wasn't allowed to enter the country.
Back in 2009, Khan was in the United States to promote his film My Name Is Khan, which details the racial profiling of Muslims after 9/11. After the incident, Khan had sought to downplay the unfortunate procedure at Newark Airport and later stated that he never asked for any apology from U.S. officials.
According to CNN, that time Aviation Minister Praful Patel told reporters that the Indian government would talk with the U.S. government to make sure such incidents don't happen in future.
“We will take the issue with the United States government strongly. Such incidents involving Indians due to their religion or nationality should not happen… we will not accept it.”
