The ongoing violence against women in recent years has the people of India fearing for their country's future. Rape culture in India is causing public fury over the country's inability to stop sexual violence against young women and girls.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau of India, crimes against women have increased by 6.4 per cent since 2008 — and that's just the crimes that have been reported. The bureau reports that a crime is committed against a woman every three minutes.
The latest news of sexual assault incidents occurred over the weekend in New Delhi, where India Police apprehended two teenagers for the alleged rape of a toddler.

More than 250 suspects were questioned by a team of police before the two boys were arrested for the attack of the two-year-old girl this past Friday night, who was found bleeding in a park near her home.
Police allege that the boys had abducted the little girl from a crowded Ramlila festival during a power outage that lasted only a few minutes. During the interrogation, the teenagers confessed to the abduction and admitted to committing the crime, police said.
Based on closed-circuit nearby video footage, police sources have narrowed the crime down to the two suspects in custody. Both boys live in the same neighbourhood near the child's home, and one of them is well acquainted with her family.
The toddler was found three hours after she went missing by neighbours who discovered her lying in a nearby park, unconscious and bleeding profusely. She had sustained severe damage to her private area and had visible bite marks all over her body. The girl was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery yesterday. She will likely be discharged by tomorrow.

This attack comes as the second sexual violence incident in India's "rape capital" within 24 hours. In a separate incident, a five-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men on Friday night after being lured into a neighbour's house, police said.
An officer from the Anand Vihar Police Station said, "Her clothes were partially torn with blood spots all over. Some locals saw her and she told them she was sexually assaulted." Tests eventually confirmed that the girl had been subjected to multiple assaults.

These ongoing attacks leave society with one simple question: "When will Delhi wake up?" How many more attacks need to occur before the City of Delhi, India, and the governments step up?
