Fashion Faves At The 16th Annual IIFA Awards Weekend

Jun 10, 2015

IIFA 2015: The Fashion Wrap!

The 2015 IIFA Awards celebrated Indian cinema this past weekend in Malaysia, where Bollywood celebs hit up a slew of green carpets from June 5 to June 7.

From Fashion Rocks to the Fashion Extravaganza night and the grand finale of the 16th Annual Awards, celebrities worked on bringing their A-game to the famous green carpet. Here’s my list of who actually succeeded.

Fashion Rocks — Day 1

Sonakshi Sinha in Anamika Khanna

Don’t you just love when a celeb takes a risk to portray a look and it works? Sonakshi blended a punk rock vibe with her chic ensemble, making Anamika Khanna’s fusion separates demand our attention. With a mohawk-inspired up-do against dramatic cat eyes, a killer Amrapali statement piece of a necklace alongside metallic nails, the Bolly sweetheart nailed this look.

Shraddha Kapoor in Georges Chakra

Adorable, to say the least, this fit ‘n’ flare dress by Georges Chakra brings a seductive side to sweet with its corset waist reminiscent of the ‘50s. Kudos to the starlet for understating her makeup and keeping with an elegant up-do to really pull off the naughty-but-nice appeal!

Screening Gala for Dil Dhadakne Do — Day 2

Ayushmann Khurrana in Tarun Tahiliani

Who can resist a man in a jodhpuri? This exaggerated-length version on Ayushmann during the screening of Dil Dhadakne Do screams relaxed swagger. The colour-contrasting pocket square and crisp white shirt pairing give this Indo-Western look a GQ vibe that we can’t help drooling over.

Fashion Extravaganza Night

Bipasha Basu in Sonaakshi Raaj

If there’s anyone who can pull of a sheer, tattoo-esque gown, it’s Bipasha. Not quite as daring as the similar numbers spotted at the Met Gala on Beyoncé and JLo, this subtle take on the revealing proved more regal than risqué. Note the high neckline and floor-sweeping train. Bip swept her hair up to allow the gown to take centre stage.

Neha Dhupia in Neha Agarwal

You can always count on Neha to bring fresh and quirky ideas to any carpet, and the actress didn’t disappoint with this colourful contrasting two-piece. The powder blue on-trend crop top paired with a neon yellow high-lo–hemline full skirt and matching clutch showed us this Bollywood beauty is not afraid to experiment with silhouettes.

IIFA Awards Night

Hrithik Roshan

In keeping with the “go colourful” trend of last year, the light-footed actor opted for a rich red tux jacket that featured contrasting black lapels. He topped off the dapper look with a red bow tie and classic black pants.

Lisa Haydon in Gaurav Gupta

The model-turned-actress oozed effortless style in a white, deep-V embellished navel tie gown that was made more appealing with its on-trend cutouts and mid-high slit. Leaving all the attention on how well the gown fit her, the actress opted for a natural bronzed glow and a no-fuss up-do.

Kriti Sanon in Georges Chakra Couture

If you didn’t know who Ms. Sanon was, you sure as heck do now! The starlet was a vision in white in this one-shoulder couture piece fit for any major carpet. She paired her delicate lace appliqué gown with simple elegant touches such as a metallic gold clutch, nude lips and a sophisticated up-do to polish off the ultra-glam look.

Parineeti Chopra in Georges Chakra

From the delicate femininity of his gown on Kriti above to this bold glam ruffled gown on Parineeti, Georges Chakra made a point of dressing to impress.

Malaika Arora Khan in Ashi Studio

It doesn’t get any more glam than this! Bravo to Malaika for the pleasant surprise. The sexpot saved the best for last when she opted against her usual figure-hugging dresses for this full-on volume drama piece. Bring on the paparazzi — the goddess has arrived!
