Stop Drinking The Knock Offs With Our Refreshed Recipes For Classic Chai!
Apr 23, 2018
Wherever you go in the world, tea is a beverage that is regarded as warming, comforting, and relaxing. India’s famed masala chai is popular option for tea drinkers and is now making its way into other recipes. So stop drinking the knock offs with our refreshed recipes for classic chai!
Masala chai is really a flavour that can be created to suit everyone’s individual tastes. Add more ginger or cinnamon, or less pepper if that’s how you prefer it. It is also easy to add more spice in the recipes you make using the spice blend, start with a small amount and increase to suit your tastes.
The Tea Base
Creating your own masala chai blend is super simple. Step one: pick a black tea of your choice, Darjeeling or Ceylon work well. Step two: add the spices. Ginger, green cardamom, cinnamon, and whole black peppercorns, are the main spices. Coriander seeds, star anise, cloves, and fennel can also make an appearance, some also add a touch of turmeric to their chai as well.
Fresh Pot of Tea
For a pot of fresh tea, bring a litre of water to a boil turn off. Add two tea bags, a two slices of fresh ginger, a stick of cinnamon, a few pods of green cardamom and a pinch of any other desired spices. Let steep for a few minutes. Add milk, or cream and sugar or honey to your taste and enjoy.

Chai Latté
Lattés sound and taste delectable and are extremely easy to make. The main feature of a latte is the warmed and frothy milk. Milk frothers and swizzle sticks are available at many stores to help achieve that goal. When making a chai latte, use equal parts tea and warmed milk. Add a splash of vanilla syrup and dollop of whip cream for an extra touch.

The Dried Base
To bake or infuse the masala chai flavour into other foods, using dried spices would be the best bet. Mix 2 tablespoons each of ground cinnamon and ginger, plus 1 tablespoon of ground cardamom with half tablespoon of fresh ground black pepper. Add a tablespoon of ground cloves, and half tablespoon of ground nutmeg if you desire. Keep in seal glass jar for use.
Smoothie Bowl
Smoothie bowls are super easy to make and are healthy, delicious and customizable. All it requires is a blender and some great ingredients. Start with a chopped up frozen banana, 4 ice cubes, 1 cup of coconut milk, a couple teaspoons of chia seeds, a couple teaspoons of maple syrup or honey to taste, and a third of a teaspoons each of ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and nutmeg or one – two tablespoons of dried chai blend shown above. Blend until smooth. Feel free to add a splash of vanilla, or a half teaspoon of turmeric or a scoop of vanilla protein powder. You can also supplement the banana for half of an avocado. Top with things like dried goji berries, shredded coconut, more chia seeds, or fresh berries.

So with all theses fabulous options you can really take advantage of the classic chai aroma and taste throughout your day and leave the chai posers at the coffee shops!
