The hottest who’s who of South Asian fashion lined the rows of the International Fashion Festival in Mississauga on November 25 to 26, 2011. Ali Hassan, actor, comedian and host, kicked the event off with a few laughs and set the mood for a weekend of entertainment. Glitz and glamour flooded the runway with designs from Vikram Phadnis, HSY, MEHDI, Nadia Lakdawala, Dinesh Ramsay and many more. Against a background of South Asian and Western beats, the dazzling saris, kameez suits, lenghas and dresses were brought to life accented with jewels and accessories.
Musical performances upped the excitement of the festivities. There was rhythmic drumming to get the crowds warmed up and a little Latin vibes heated up the night with a performance from Christian TY. Sofia ‘Fia’ Khan presented a South Asian and Western fusion dance performance both nights. JoSH and Raghav lit the stage up on Saturday night with hot, hot, hot crowd-pleasing performances. Both nights were kicked off by musical duo Bul Bul, in their debut performances.
Indian supermodel Pia Trivedi and Pakistani supermodel Cybil Chaudhry graced the runways while actor Vinay Virmani, Pakistan Consul General in Toronto Sahebzada A. Khan and owner of Universal Promotions Amir Shamsi attended to support the nights of fashion. The two-day fashion extravaganza ended with a star-filled after party to keep the celebration going.
