Eco Fashion Week

Feb 04, 2014

Eco Fashion Week took place from October 6 to 10 in Vancouver’s Robson Square. It was a multifaceted event that brought together econistas, designers and stylists to celebrate environment friendly fashion. Subtitled Fashion for Life, Not for Waste, the event was led by thrift retailer Value Village and high-end luxury store Holt Renfrew. The Value Village Chic Challenge had stylists Kenneth Wyse, Dandilion Wind Opaine and Claire Bouvier creating 10 runway outfits from gently used clothing. Designer Evan Ducharme accepted Value Village’s 68-Pound Challenge, a challenge inspired from the fact that the average North American throws away 68 pounds of clothing and textiles each year. Ducharme presented his new collection from 68 pounds of gently used clothing and was applauded by the audience. Other prominent designers and labels included Hey Jude, Young Oak, Bhana, Sally Omeme and Couture Therapy. The event concluded with a special cocktail party at Holt Renfrew.
